Box Office Coordinator

Position Summary: The Box Office Coordinator is a seasonal, “at will” Independent Contractor position responsible for administering all ticket allocations, balancing inventory, and producing sales reports for the ticketing and box office operations for the San Diego Asian Film Festival. The Box Office Coordinator is also responsible for training and scheduling staff at all satellite venues including but not limited to UCSD, MOPA, and Digital Gym Cinema. They will report directly to the Managing Director.

Contract Length: October 1, 2017 – November 30, 2017

Time Commitment: Variable and negotiable, as follows:

  • October 1 – November 8: Pre-Festival hours estimated 25-30 hours per week
  • November 9 – November 18: At-Festival hours estimated 40+ hours per week
  • November 19 – November 30: Post-Festival hours estimated 25 hours per week

Compensation: Stipend to be paid upon completion of contract.

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel a plus
  • Positive attitude and ability to be adaptable
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle pressure of deadlines
  • Creativity a plus
  • Prior box office, event planning or ticketing experience a plus
  • Cash-handling and/or accounting experience a plus

Job Duties:

  • Manage ticket inventory for online (Gala Engine), theater box office (UltraStar), and satellite venues and create a ticket allocations timeline
  • Present box office sales reports for pre-festival dates, and daily from Nov. 9-18
  • Coordinate the sale and distribution of ticket six-packs
  • Inform marketing team regarding box office pre-sales, mid-festival updates
  • Administer master spreadsheet for SDAFF ticket sales
  • Coordinate community partners and sponsors comp/ticket fulfilment
  • Recruit, train, and schedule box office volunteers at all festival satellite locations
  • Coordinate all voucher collections and archiving
  • Present post-festival sales figures to staff
  • Other duties as assigned
