The 6th Annual Chew The Scene returned on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the San Diego Natural History Museum with nearly 500 guests in attendance – celebrating dishes and drinks from over 20 local culinary partners!
In its largest iteration yet, the 5th Annual Chew The Scene gave exciting new culinary concepts a home under the umbrella of Asian American cuisine and challenged San Diego chefs to tell their own Asian American food stories with creative, off-menu dishes.
And for the first time ever, awards were presented to the restaurants who best exemplified the spirit of the festival—and its festival sections—and whose dishes best met the challenge of creating a hybrid, bastardized, or idiosyncratic off-menu dish emblematic of Asian American cuisine today.
The 4th Annual Chew The Scene celebrated the histories, stories, and memories behind the food prepared by participating restauranteurs, chefs, and food partners. Like the film festival it launches, the Chew The Scene 2017 aimed to showcase how food, like film, can tell and celebrate stories of Asian America.
Now housed in Brick SD, a new location for the 3rd Annual Chew The Scene, the event kicked off the San Diego Asian Film Festival, combining food and drink tastings while giving attendees first opportunity in San Diego to preview the film festival’s lineup of films and programs.
The 2nd Annual Chew The Scene kicked off the San Diego Asian Film Festival, combining food and drink tastings while giving attendees first opportunity in San Diego to preview the film festival’s lineup of films and programs.
