SDAFF Youth Days
Youth Day is a free day of youth-oriented film screenings to educate, enlighten, and enhance students’ film literacy skills. We partner with local businesses and area high schools to draw hundreds of students interested in technology and media for a day full of film and learning at the UltraStar Mission Valley Theater. Students also have the opportunity to meet filmmakers and artists.
We invite your school to join us for Youth Day during the San Diego Asian Film Festival in November. While Youth Day is open to all local high schools, we are particularly interested in working with teachers and students in the area of film, media arts, and ethnic studies. We provide each teacher with a study guide to prepare students for Youth Day.
Past participating schools: ArtsTECH Academy, Canyon Crest Academy, Granger Junior High, Grossmont Secondary School, High Tech High, Montgomery High School, New Dawn High School, Pacific Ridge School, San Ysidro High School, School of Creative and Performing Arts, Sia Tech High School, Southwest High School, Sweetwater High School, and more.
Artists in Schools
Artists in Schools brings a taste of the film festival atmosphere onto high school campuses. Filmmakers and artists who are featured at the San Diego Asian Film Festival and Spring Showcase visit schools to screen their films and engage in discussions with students.
