POSITION SUMMARY: Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts) is seeking passionate and community-oriented individuals to join our team as Community Outreach Interns for the San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF). This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the largest showcases of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander cinema in the country while gaining hands-on experience in community engagement, event planning, and cultural advocacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of outreach initiatives targeting local communities and cultural organizations.
  • Represent SDAFF at community events, cultural festivals, and film screenings to promote Pac Arts’ mission and programs.
  • Distribute promotional materials and engage with community members to build excitement for SDAFF events.
  • Collaborate with the development and education team to identify new partnership opportunities and strengthen relationships with community collaborators.
  • Support the coordination of community-based screenings, workshops, and other outreach activities leading up to and during the festival.
  • Collect feedback and insights from community members to inform future outreach strategies and programming decisions for SDAFF.
  • Utilize tools and resources (e.g., Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Documents, Slack, Airtable, Dropbox) to manage outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiasm for community outreach, event coordination, and cultural advocacy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in or knowledge of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures and cinema is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability for in-person events in San Diego, CA, particularly for meetings and during the festival period.

DURATION AND COMMITMENT: This volunteer internship requires a commitment of 15–20 hours per week. While some activities may be conducted remotely, availability for in-person events in the San Diego, CA area, especially during the festival period, is preferred. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate academic or personal commitments.
