POSITION SUMMARY: Join the San Diego Asian Film Festival's dynamic team! Pacific Arts Movement is looking for enthusiastic individuals, students, or recent graduates with a passion for cinema and Asian cultures.
As part of the programming intern cohort, you’ll help our larger Programming team review feature and short film submissions; write film-related copy for print and online; scout national, international, and student film festivals for emerging cinematic voices; communicate with filmmakers; QC film assets; assist with database maintenance, website updates, and administrative tasks; and support Programming and other festival departments including Guest Relations as we build the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Depending on need, additional opportunities may include film-related research, public speaking, festival activations, longer form writing opportunities, and special projects.
This unpaid opportunity is ideal for anyone eager to explore the world of film and building Asian community through film festivals. All are welcome to apply, regardless of student status.
BENEFITS: This position provides a unique opportunity to engage in an exciting film and cultural event. Interns gain hands-on experience in festival planning and implementation, as well as exposure to the Asian American arts community at both local and regional levels. Interns will expand their understanding of contemporary international film styles and trends. This also serves as a great networking opportunity and valuable experience for aspiring filmmakers, writers, activists, event planners, or those in the nonprofit sector entrepreneurs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits:
DURATION AND COMMITMENT: Internship runs February through November, with an approximate 10 hour/week commitment including required in-person weekly meetings (through August) and additional assignments to be completed off-site. Availability for in-person events in the San Diego, CA area, especially during the festival period, is preferred. There is some flexible scheduling available on a case-by-case basis to accommodate academic or personal commitments.
